Two-Tone Nighttime in the Forest Scene

Hello crafty friends! My name is Peggy Emmerink and welcome to my Heffy Doodle blog series called Color Wheel Combos! I usually choose the colors for my card either intuitively or get inspiration from fellow crafters. But for this series, I wanted to get up close and personal with color by using a color wheel to help me choose colors that work well together. I hope to learn a lot for myself along the way. But I certainly hope you will enjoy going on this journey of discovery with me! Let’s get started!

A little while ago I chose primary colors red and blue for a card and I really liked the two-tone effect. So this time, I wanted to try a card in primary colors yellow and blue. And it turned out so fun. Let me show you how I made this card. I started by diecutting the Sky High Clouds Backdrop from white cardstock. I removed the punched out clouds and set them aside. I ink blended three colors of Distress Oxide Ink, Antique Linen, Tumbled Glass and Uncharted Mariner. I attached the backdrop to a card base and placed back the punched out clouds, which I left white.

I cut a piece of Heffy Doodle Blueberry Bliss cardstock to size and used a grassy border die at the top. I ink blended the bottom with Black Soot Distress Ink. I stamped my images from the Hootiful and Deer to Me stamp set and colored the images with alcohol markers. Let me know if you are interested to know which marker colors I used. If you don’t own the Hootiful set yet, please check it out, as there are some awesome discounted bundles still available for this retiring set in the Heffy Doodle Vault.

Lastly, I added some white gel pen accents to the images and adhered everything using a combination of foam tape and liquid glue. To finish my card I heat embossed the Well Hello Deer sentiment from the Deer to Me stamp set on Kraft cardstock! Hope you like my card and wishing you a crafty day!

Long distance hugs,

Peggy
