Monkeys Gone Bananas!

Hello my wonderful crafty friends!!  I hope you are all healthy and happy!  I have been having so much extra fun time in the craft room.  How about you!?

Today, I am sharing with you how I made this fun, interactive card!  Please see my post on Instagram to watch this card in action!

I’m going to start with stamping all of my images.  I am using Chimply the Best, Hootiful, and Pretty Pink Posh’s Tropical Toucans (for the tiny flowers).  I am using an alcohol marker friendly stamp pad because I will be using Copic alcohol markers to color in the images.

Now I’m going to color in all of my images with Copic markers.

I’m going to use my small die cutting machine to cut my images out, using Purple Tape to keep the dies in the correct position.

Now, for the DIY slider element!

I’m going to use a die from Studio Katia called Darling Ribbon and Dotted Frames.  This will be the window for my monkeys and shaker elements.

I’m also cutting down 3 acetate strips that will run vertically down my frame.  This is what my monkeys will slide on.  I also cut 3 smaller pieces that I can fold around the strips and attach my monkeys to.  I am using double sided tape on this small piece to hold it together and the other piece will hold the monkey in place.  Then, using 3D foam strips, I’m adhering the strips to the frame.  This will give the monkeys plenty of room to move around.

Here’s what it looks like!  So fun!

For the background, I stamped a whole bunch of branches and colored them in, using the same colors as before.  I lined it with 3D foam strips (to hold my shakers in) and cut down a piece of vellum to hold the shakers in.

For the sentiment, I am using some Heffy Doodle Memo tape to mask off the part of the sentiment I don’t want.  I stamped the sentiment with Versamark Watermark ink, used white detail embossing powder, and heat embossed the sentiment.  To see more detail on this step, please visit this blog post.  I am also stamping the “happy retirement” sentiment from the Classic Sentiments stamp set.

I’m using scissors to cut the sentiments into banners.  I’m also going to use some glue to start adhering my branches and vines.

I’m using some sequins and beads from Studio Katia and Pretty Pink Posh.

Now, I’m just adding the flowers and more beads to the front!

Here’s another photo of the finished card!  Isn’t it so fun!

Thank you so much for stopping by and scrolling along with me!  I hope you enjoyed my post!!

XOXO, Amanda
