Let’s Go Clubbing, Ladies!

It’s my birthday today!!  I made myself a card!  This card is probably one of my favorite cards to date!  I had such a fun time coloring these ladies’ dresses and adding their accessories!  Plus, free-handing a pattern is so much simpler than I thought it would be!  Come scroll along with me!!

First, I’m stamping my ladies and their accessories from the Prehistoric Pals Stamp Set  and the Quill You Be Mine? Stamp Set.  I am using Memento Tuxedo Black ink because I will be coloring with my Copic markers and this ink is alcohol ink friendly (meaning, it won’t smudge when the markers touch it.)

I am going to color each of the ladies differently so they don’t end up looking like duplicates of the same stamped image.  (Click on each photo to see them larger.)  I also use my White Gelly Roll pen for highlights and pearl jewelry.  I am drawing on tattoos and other accessories with my Micron pen.

I die cut my ladies and their accessories with the coordinating dies.  I am using a stitched rectangle die to cut out a rectangle in the center of my card front.

On the outer edge, I’m creating my own animal print pattern with my Copic markers.  I simply searched “animal print” on my phone and then chose colors I thought matched the image.  Then I just attempted to copy the print from my phone.  It was really SO much easier than I thought it was going to be!  This was my first and only attempt!

I wanted to create a nightclub look, but with colors that matched the animal prints.  So I’m using Carved Pumpkin and Mustard Seed distress oxides and the Simply Radiant Stencil to create a disco ball effect for my ladies.

I chose the best sentiment for this scene: “Never too old to go clubbing” and am stamping it with Versamark watermark ink and heat embossing with white embossing powder.  I use my anti-static tool to help keep the straggling embossing powder from sticking to my cardstock.  I heat emboss from the back of the cardstock first, which helps the heat tool from blowing off my embossing powder before it starts melting.

I’m using all sorts of adhesives to assemble my card!

All done!  Here are some close-ups:

Thanks so much for reading my post on my birthday!

Xoxo, Amanda
