Happy Birthday Balloon with the Happy Snappy Crocs

Hello everyone and thank you for stopping by!!!

I´m Maria from  My Craftway to Happiness and I´m one of the lucky ladies that made it into Lesley´s amazing Design Team.

Today’s card, that I want to share with you is a birthday card for an Austrian crafting friend of mine.

A few months ago I took an online card class about rainbow cards and there they taught us how to create different backgrounds using all the colors of the rainbow. I just love rainbows as they are bright and cheerful and happy. Rainbows always make me smile!! What about you?

So as I´m a rainbow lover I decided to make the background for this card with rainbow colors and every birthday party needs balloons, right? So I made myself a stencil by diecuttung a ballon out of a white scrap paper sheet and layered it over my background panel. Using a blending tool I then applicated some distressinks over the stencil and added another layer, when I applied another star stencil on top of the ballon stencil. That way you get that tone in tone star balloon. Then you keep continuing that process with another color of the rainbow overlapping the first one a little bit until you have covered as much of your background as you want.

After my background was set I used a stitched cloud border die and diecut a small panel out of vellum.

On that piece of vellum I stamped my sentiment from the Happy Snappy Crocs stampset with versamark and heat embossed it in black. I love the font of our Heffy Doodle stampsets. They are so pretty and versatile.

To hide my glueing spots( which is usually hard with vellum)  I attatched a golden ribbon on the bottom of my vellum pannel and hid my sticky tape behind it. Clever, huh? I also hid a glue dot behind my adorable critter.

Speaking of critter. As the main image, I chose one of the cool crocodiles from the Happy Snappy Crocs stampset.

I stamped him with Memento Tuxedo Black on shimmery white cardstock and colored him with waterbased inks and my watertank brush. Once he was dry I diecut him using the coordinating dies and gave him also a small balloon from the Elephant of Surprise stampset and it´s dies and popped both up with foam dots. My little croc also got a few white highlights as details.

To finish my card off I added some sequins for a little bling. No birthday without bling 😀  !!!

Thanks again for stopping by!!! I hope to see you here again soon!!!

Have a wonderful and creative day!!!

Maria 🙂

Maria, this is a lovely card. The white detail on your critter makes it come alive. Love rainbows too, they have a special meaning for me and remind me of a special person.

What a great card! I love your background technique and the extra stars. Nice design detail. I especially love the yellow you added to your croc’s belly! Mine have been all green hues and yours is much more interesting! Thanks for the super ideas!
