Emboss Resist Technique With Solid Stamps

Hello and welcome back to the Heffy Doodle Blog!  We are SO glad you stopped by to see what crafty inspiration we have today!  Today’s theme is “Stretch Your Supplies” with a new design team member – Tatiana! Tatiana was a guest designer on our blog in June so, please, check her previous post by clicking HERE where she introduced herself! I chose to play with adorable Chimply The Best Stamp Set filled with so many cute illustrations. I love the fact that the tree branches in this set come both as open and solid stamps! Such a clever and creative design! That’s why I decided to get more from the solid stamps than just an inked and stamped images and give you an idea how to create a cool background, using emboss resist technique and Distress inks.

Key Ingredients:

Step By Step Instructions:

  • Die cut from Alcohol Marker Friendly Cardstock all the element you need, using the coordinating Chimply The Best Dies and Mini Die Cutting Machine. Save the negative parts of the dies.
  • Stamp the outline illustrations from Chimply The Best Stamp Set withMemento Tuxedo Black Ink. Use the negative parts of the dies as a guide for a perfect alignment inside the stamping positioning tool.
  • Color the stamps with COPIC MARKERS. I used on this card:
    • chimps E50-E51-E53-E55-E57 and E000-E00-E01-E02
    • cheeks R30-r32
    • leaves G20-G82-YG63-G28
    • branches E41-E42-E43-E44
  • Die cut a Stitched Circle from a Bristol paper, put a generous coat of powder from the Powder Tool Applicator and stamp one of the solid branches with VersaMark Clear Embossing Ink. Repeat the same steps a couple of times to fill in the background.
  • Sprinkle a fine detailed white embossing powder on the circle and heat set it with a heat gun.
  • Ink the top side of the circle background with Rustic Wilderness and Bundled Sage Distress inks, creating an ombré effect. Use the blending brushes to achieve a nice and smooth result.
  • Splatter some tiny droplets of a pearlescent solution, a white gouache and some ink diluted with a small amount of water to add more interest to the inked background.
  • Heat emboss in white onto black the sentiment from the same Chimply The Best Stamp Set, using VersaMark Clear Embossing Ink and Powder Tool Applicator.
  • Trim and score an extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) from Neenah Solar White paper.
  • Arrange and glue in place all the elements. Pop some of them on a foam tape for a fun dimensional look.
  • Finish with some matching sequins adhered with Glubert – Craft Glue.
That’s all for today! Hope you like this cute card! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fabulous day! Hugs, Tatiana
