Hello, Tallie here. Today I have a clean and simple card with a focus on no-line coloured die cuts. You don’t always have to create a whole scene with no-line colouring! The bunch of balloons from the new Popping By set can be paired with many of Lesley’s previous sets (in this case, Spaced Out), and I used it here to help give that celebratory feel!

I started off by creating my frame. I used one of the Stitched Stars dies to cut die an aperture from an A6 white card panel. This gives a lovely stitched border! I then used some Abandoned Coral, Spiced Marmalade and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide inks to blend on a fiery background onto a top-folding card base. I added a few water splatters to give some additional texture.

Whilst the background panel was drying, I stamped out the space shuttle and spaceman from the Spaced Out stamp set and the balloons from Popping By onto some blending cardstock using some Lawn Fawn Jellyfish ink. This ink/paper combo is my favourite for alcohol colouring! I chose some bright and happy coordinating Copic markers to colour in the elements. With no-line colouring, it is important to make sure you have a good contrast between your lights and darks to make up for the fact you’ve not got the thick black line to give the definition. For instance, the darkest marker on the space suit is E57 whilst the lightest is E50. Don’t be afraid to go darker, though if you’re lacking contrast you can always follow up with some coloured pencils over the top. Once finished, I die cut these out with the coordinating dies.

I adhered all the elements together, using a bit of foam tape to pop up the pieces and give some dimension. The sentiment from the Spaced Out set finishes off the card nicely!

This is a perfect opportunity to try out no-line colouring without having to create a whole scene. Give it a go!
