You Light Up My World Card

Hi Heffy Doodlers, and welcome back to the blog! It’s Cassie here, and I’m happy to be back with another card to share with you today. If you haven’t seen the Heffy Doodle challenge that we have going on it’s time you do! Today’s card was inspired by the challenge!

I’ve seen a lot of fun and adorable cards already featuring warm beach scenes, ice cream and cute critters in bathing suits, so I decided to go a little bit different of a route here and make a card showing one of my favorite things to do in the summer, which is looking for shooting stars! We always lay on the dock at our family cabin and count how many we can see 🙂

I started the card for today by die cutting the Star Panel die from Your Next Stamp from some 110 lb card stock. I wanted to create a sky full with stars, and this die was perfect for that. I used Black Soot, Chipped Sapphire, Mermaid Lagoon, and Broken China Distress Inks to ink blend over the panel. I kept the middle lighter and darkened the edges to draw your eye to the center. I trimmed down a piece of card stock to go behind this star die and ink blended on it as well. I used Mustard Seed and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Inks for the stars in the sky to show through.

Next I grabbed the adorable little bear from Unbearable Without You and stamped him with some Copic safe black ink. Then I used my Copics to color him in. How cute is that little face of amazement!? I love that you can customize this little guys facial expression. I die cut him out with the coordinating dies and popped him onto the star panel with foam tape.

Next I die cut a Strips of Ease die from black paper and stamped my sentiment from the Interactively Yours stamp set with VersaMark ink and heat embossed white embossing powder over the top. I trimmed the strip down so that it was just the right length and used foam tape to adhere it to the card as well. For my finishing touch I took some of the stars that had been cut out of the panel and were still white and adhered them to the card front with foam tape to give a little more depth and dimension. I also took a white gel pen to add more stars and messy lines to look like shooting stars!

And that’s it for my card today! Be sure to play along with us for this awesome challenge and you could win an amazing prize! I hope you’re all having a great day, and I’ll see you again soon with another card!
