Winter Wishes

Hello friends! It’s Ashley and starting today, I will be taking over the Scene Building series on the Heffy Doodle blog! If you have seen my cards before, you’ll know I love to create scenes with lots of interest and images so I am thrilled to share some more of them with you all. If you enjoyed my Creative Color Combos, be sure to check out Davina’s new series Color Snapshot! She will be making a new color board every month that will be sure to inspire!

Now that fall is officially here, I’m sure all of us cardmakers are thinking of Christmas cards. So for today, I have a cute winter scene to share that is both fun and not too complex!

I started by blending Distress Inks in Milled Lavender, Shaded Lilac and Faded Jeans onto a white piece of A2 cardstock. I splattered the piece with some white acrylic paint and Inkon3’s Pixie Dust for a shimmery, snowy look.

I cut a second piece of white cardstock with the Breaking Waves die and blended Tumbled Glass Distress Ink onto it for an ocean before adding it to my card. I created my snow drifts with the Stitched Slopey Joes dies and white sparkle cardstock. I used Lawn Fawn’s Pixie Dust but anything you have is fine! You could even make your own with glimmer paste if you want! I added the snow drifts to the card with Scor Tape – I find I really need the stronger adhesive to keep the glitter paper in place.

I stamped the seals from Sealy Friends and the penguins from Wanna Build a Snowman onto Alcohol Marker Friendly cardstock with Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink and colored with Copics. I added the front images with foam tape for a bit of dimension. I stamped the sentiment from Wanna Build a Snowman on Oreo Crunch cardstock with VersaMark ink and embossed with white. I also added foam tape to the sentiment strip to pop it up. As a finishing touch, I framed the scene with a skinny white frame using Skinny Imperial Rectangle Frames.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!
