Thanks Gull Friend: Simple but cute thank you card!

Hi Heffy Doodle friends! I’m so happy to be back today with a fun and simple ‘thank you’ card.

I started by stamping my images from the fun ‘You go, Gull’ stamp set. I stamped them with Versafine Onyx black ink on Bristol Smooth cardstock, since I was going to be watercoloring with my Zig watercolor markers. You can find the colors that I used below:

  • Bright Yellow / Orange
  • Mid Gray / Natural Gray
  • Pale Gray / Fog Gray
  • Light Carmine / Peach Pink

To perfect my black outlines, I went over a few lines with a Copic multiliner. This makes the outlines all pitch black. This is just a small detail but I find it makes a big difference. Of course, I die cut my images with the coordinating dies and the awesome mini die cutting machine.

For my background panel, I started diecutting a small stitched rectangle (Lawn Fawn) out of the same Bristol Smooth cardstock. Then I took the Wonderful Windows Masquerade stencil and put it on top of the rectangle piece. I masked off the top 3 squares. I was just gonna be ink blending the 3 bottom squares. I did this with Distress Oxides in the colors Speckled Egg and Peacock Feathers. This really doesn’t take long since it’s just a small amount that needs blending. I did want to add a bit of sparkle. I took some liquid stardust and diluted it with a bit of water on my glass mat. I sprinkled on a bit on my 3 little square panels.

I wanted a big sentiment on the top of the panel. I chose the ‘thanks’ that’s included in the Slimline Scalloped Peekaboo Dies. This was just the perfect size for my card. I die cut this out of the black Oreo Crunch cardstock and I drew on some white gel pen details. I really love this look!

Time to put everything together! I put down my images and the sentiment with a combination of liquid glue and foam squares. This creates a bit of dimension. I glued down my panel on a piece of pink patterned paper. This created a fun border all around. I just adhered this on a white A2 sized cardbase and my card was all finished!

I’m really pleased with the result. Cards don’t always have to be complicated to be beautiful. Can’t wait to send this card to my friend!

Thank you so much for being here. I will be back soon with another card!

Love, Jarle x
