Sweetest Summer

Hello crafters! Tallie back here with you today. It’s been hot and summery for a good long while here in the UK, so today’s card brings those summer vibes! I combined the Treat Yo Self stamps with the Rascal Alphabetters dies, along with some of the Wild Flowers Patterned Paper to create this yummy, sparkly rainbow birthday card!

I couldn’t wait to get started on the colouring for this card, so I stamped out three duplicates of the icecream cone and lolly from the Treat Yo Self stamp set onto some Alcohol Marker Friendly Cardstock using some Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink.

Of course, I chose a rainbow order! I used at least three alcohol markers in each colour family in order to get that contrast between shadow and highlight, but stuck to the same light browns for the lolly sticks and cones. When finished, I cut them out with the coordinating dies using my handy Heffy Doodle Mini Die Cutting Machine.

Next, the background! I chose a bright pink polka dot pattern from the Wild Flowers Basics 6×6 paper pad and cut it down so that it would fit on an A6 card base. I used the third largest die from the Ovally Excited set to cut an oval from Sunny Side Up cardstock to give a backdrop for my ice creams.

For the sentiment, I stamped out the ‘you are the’ from the Treat Yo Self stamp set onto a sliver of white cardstock using some crisp Versafine Clair ink. I also die cut out the remaining ‘sweetest’ letters from some Grape Soda cardstock using the Rascal Alphabetters dies.

After adhering the die cuts to the background using a little bit of Glubert, the final finishing touch was to add a layer of glittery sparkle pen to give some shine!

Thanks for reading and I hope you have some sunny weather to enjoy your summer (or wintery, if you’re the other side of the hemisphere!).

Happy crafting!
