SWEET Summer card

Hi Heffy Doodle friends!

I am back on the blog today with a very special take on my ‘Sweet Scenes’ series for Heffy Doodle. I wanted to turn the focus to the word SWEET this time. Very literally speaking 🙂

As of today I am fully in vacation mode, so I wanted to share a card that gave me holiday vibes. Let me tell you how this card came together!

I started by die cutting a mini scalloped rectangle (imperial) out of Bristol Smooth cardstock. I went for the second to largest one. This could give me a nice border all around the card panel. I inked my panel, starting in the middle and blending it towards the edges. This made sure the heaviest of color was in the middle of the panel and it could turn into white towards the edges. I used Honeysuckle from Concord&9th for my blending. To add a bit of interest, I splattered on some white acrylic paint as well. I set my panel aside to dry.

I stamped the ice lolly from the Treat Yo’ Self 3 times on alcohol marker friendly cardstock with Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink. I used my Copics to color these cuties in.

  • Y15 – Y13 – Y11
  • RV09 – RV14 – RV13
  • Blushy Cheeks: R22 – R30
  • E74 – E33 – E31

I added a few white gel pen details as well. After that, I die cut them out with the coordinating dies and the mini die cutting machine.

For my sentiment, I used the ‘to a sweet friend’ from the More Classic Sentiments stamp set. I stamped the whole sentiment on black cardstock with Versamark ink. I sprinkled on white embossing powder and heat set it with my heat gun.

I trimmed down my sentiment and removed the word ‘sweet’ with my mini paper trimmer. I wanted to put the focus on the word ‘sweet’ so I die cut all those letters with the Moxie Alphabet dies. I used the Razzleberry cardstock for this.

To match my ink blended panel, I did go in with Poppy dye ink on the bottom of the letters, but it isn’t really so visible in the end result.

I popped up my embossed white sentiment, as well as the 3 ice lollies with foam squares. Then I decided to die cut the word ‘sweet’ once again out of black cardstock. I debated a bit on whether or not I wanted a black shadow behind the word. But I ended up just stacking the die cuts up for dimension, without any shadow. It just didn’t seem right…

Then I trimmed down a piece of the yellow patterned paper in the Wildflowers paper pack to A2 size and I adhered my scalloped panel on top. By the way, this is my absolute favorite paper pad from Heffy Doodle. I’m running very low on these papers so I think I need to stock up. I just adore the bright colors!

As a finishing touch, I first went over the word ‘sweet’ with a glitter pen. And because that wasn’t quite enough, I went over it with Glossy Accents as well. And, I mean, this is just gorgeous! This really adds that little extra something special to this yummy and summery card.

I’m happy with how this card turned out and I hope you like this inspiration as well. I will be back soon with another card project! I hope you can enjoy some time off very soon!

Love, Jarle x
