Superheroes of All Kinds with Special Guest Emily Midgett

Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you today, and I am so very excited to be guesting for Heffy Doodle!!! I had the pleasure of meeting Lesley and her fabulous team at Creativation, and I’m so honored to be a guest on the Heffy Doodle blog! I absolutely adore the Superdudes stamp set… and the Super Girl stamp in it made me so happy; it reminded me of all of the girls in the latest Avengers movie kicking some serious booty!!! Most women don’t have the opportunity to be heroes like Captain Marvel and crew, but women are heroes every day in their roles as moms, caretakers, and fur-moms. Those who work in animal rescue fit that “hero” description, and so I just had to pair the Super Girl with the adorable little super pup from one of the recent promotions. Who is more heroic (in the eyes of the rescued pup) than the mom who rescued them? Let’s get started with the details!

I began by stamping the Super Girl from Superdudes and her little canine pal onto some white card stock using Copic-friendly black ink. I then colored them in shades of blue, purple, and pink using my Copic markers, and die cut the Super Girl using the coordinating dies.

Next, I blended a vibrant sunset background using electric blue, deep purple, and hot pink inks. I placed the Zapp Attack stencil on my blended background, then spritzed it with some iridescent shimmer spray to add some subtle, sparkly texture and pattern on the blended background.

After my blended and spritzed background had dried, I stamped the greeting on thin strips of white card stock. I also die cut the “my hero” standalone die four times from plain white card stock, then adhered them all together with liquid adhesive to create a dimensional die cut. I trimmed down a navy blue panel for the bottom of the blended panel, then added my sentiments and Super Girl and Super Pup using foam and liquid adhesives.

Well, that’s all for my project today! I hope your week is off to a fabulous start! Thank you so much to the ladies of Heffy Doodle for having me as their guest! If you’d like to see more of my work, I’d love it if you checked out my blog emilymidgett.com, or my YouTube channel. You can also find me on Instagram @eamidgett. Have a marvelous day!
