Stamping for Autism Awareness

Hi there! Welcome to our stop of the 2018 Stamping for Autism Awareness Blog Hop. We are honored to be part of this very important cause. The design team has put together an impressive array of projects to inspire to create and mark this world wide event.

Before I jump on to the projects I want to let you know that we have a giveaway for comments left on this blog. We are giving away one a £35 voucher/gift card to the Heffy Doodle store. The winner will be announced here on Monday April 9th. **Update! Winner is Kellie Whitmire, please email cr*****@he*********.com*** Congrats!

First up is Ali Farmer

To make this card, I sponged a white background piece of card using a cloud stencil with Salty Ocean Distress Ink. I lightly stamped the encouragement words (themes of acceptance, understanding, empowerment and kindness) with the Jet Alphabetters Stamp set in the same ink. I added some stitched clouds. I stamped out the bear from the Bearly Big Heart Set, coloured him with copics, and die cut him. I used my vintage dymo to print out the words and backed these with some white card. I used a thin strip of striped paper and attached the front panel to a blue card base.

Next is Lesley

I nearly always make A2 sized cards, so for today’s project I wanted to make something that was extra special and different from my usual go-to crafty size. Working on a piece of card which was slightly smaller than the DL card, I stamped a message from the Unbearable Without You stamp set, stamping some in blue ink and embossing on top with clear embossing powder. For the blue section, I masked off a section and then used distress inks to create a beautifully blending background. I added some embossed faux stitching on the edges and then stuck the bear on top with a wobbler. I love the interactive element on this card! The speech bubble was then added using the Whatcha Saying stamp set and dies, and it is sitting on a layer of blue craft foam.

Maria’s turn!

Hello everyone ,as blue is the color for Autism I decided to take 3 shades of blue and stenciled them over an abstract stencil onto a white notecard. I topped it with a stitched rectangle and one of the cute elephants from the Elephant of surprise stamp set. I colored him using watercolors and a white gel pen. I also added a sentiment strip using the Stitched strips of ease and stamped “Happy Autism Awareness Day” in 4 different shades of blue. As for the bling, I picked different blue sequins and adhered them all over the card, to symbolize the different kinds of autism that exist. Happy Autism Awareness Day everyone! Maria 🙂

Jessica McAfee

The idea for this card came from an awesome Sunday crop, it was my first ever and super cool to be inspired by amazing ladies. One of my crafty friends let me know that a puzzle piece is part of local Autism organization’s logo and a little light bulb went off, I instantly thought of our cute elephant from Elephant of Surprise. I die cut the heart shape puzzle with watercolor paper and created the background using Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers. To finish off the card I added dimension with 3D foam squares, sequins and twine.

Next up is the uniquely awesome Cassie:

I started my card for today by grabbing the Jet Alphabetters stamp set and lined up my letters on my Misti stamping tool. I inked them up with Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron Distress Oxide inks and spritzed them with water so that when I stamped them they looked more like water colors. I also splattered the paper with some of the ink that was left on the Misti door. Once that was done I set it aside to dry and stamped the cute croc from Happy Snappy Crocs on some water color paper. I used the same Distress Oxide ink to color him in as I did on the letters, and die cut him with the coordinating dies. I used a post it to mask and ink blend a ground at the base of the panel of paper and attached the crocodile with foam tape. To create a blue frame I die cut the stitched rectangle from the Lucky Clover Dies and ink blended Peacock Feathers around the edges, since that is all that is seen. To finish my sentiment I heat embossed a sentence from Geology Rocks on black paper and die cut it with the Strips of Ease dies. That was attached with foam tape and the finishing touch was some white Nuvo drops!

Coloring mastermind Olga:

New design team member Sindhu

Start by stamping the image of the gem on the top half of a 4.25″x5.5″ piece of card stock. Stamp the sentiment (I selectively stamped the ‘you’re’ from the ‘you’re a’ sentiment from Heffy Doodle ‘Geology rocks’ stamp set.). Colour with the medium of your choice and cut out the top portion of the panel in such a way that a part of the gem hangs off it. On the card base, sponge ink through the sun rays stencil. Also, sponge the same ink at the bottom of the card base. Trim down the panel at the bottom and adhere to the card base. Add embellishments of your liking to finish the card.

What a gorgeous collection of cards right?! Don’t forget to leave your comments below!!

Hugs,

Crystal
