Slimline Hedgehog Valentine
Hi there! It’s Andrea back with you today with my second post as a guest designer. I have thoroughly enjoyed playing with Heffy Doodle’s adorable products, and I hope I’ve inspired you even just a little.
As I’m pretty much done with making Christmas cards, I decided to make a Valentine card for my last project. I couldn’t resist those cute hedgies from Quill You Be Mine: They are so adorable! I colored the images with my Copics, added a few high lights with a white gel pen, and cut them out.
To create my background, I first blended a panel of white cardstock with Spun Sugar Distress Oxide (You could start with a light pink cardstock base, but I had this piece left over on my desk). After trimming 1/4″ wide strips of masking paper, I arranged them on top of the panel in a sun-ray design. Next, I blended with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide.
I used the tiny, solid heart from the Roundabout Sentiments set and stamped it with Festive Berries Distress Oxide. To achieve some variation in color and intensity, I stamped each heart three or four times before re-inking the stamp. I flicked water droplets over the panel and splattered Liquid Pixie Dust, as well. After removing the strips, I die-cut the panel with a scalloped die and adhered it to a white card.
I die-cut banners from white cardstock with the Curved Banner Die and heat-embossed sentiments from Roundabout Sentiments. I arranged the banners and hedgehogs onto my card and adhered them with foam tape. For a little more sparkle, I scattered pink sequins over the panel.
A big thank you to the Heffy Doodle team for allowing me the opportunity to guest design! I hope you all have a safe and very happy holiday!
