A Rainbow Ocean of Love

Hello everyone! Justin Adkins here, and today I am sharing my 2nd and final project as the February Heffy Doodle Guest Designer! I had an idea for the Oceans of Love stamp set that was a bit non-traditional, and it involved a rainbow of colors!

First, I stamped out each of the critters from the Oceans of Love stamp set, a handful of detail stamps, colored them up with Copic Markers and used the coordinating dies to cut them all out. I then set them aside to work on my card.

I grabbed a slimline card die from my stash, where there are 5 offset rectangle windows die cut, and used that to die cut a 8.5 inch by 3.5 inch piece of white cardstock. I then cut out (5) 1.5 inch by 3 inch pieces of white blending cardstock, which would fit perfectly into each of the windows die cut out. I adhered my white slimline die cut directly onto a 8.5 inch by 3.5 inch backing piece so I could adhere my items together more easily.

I blended up my small rectangles with (1) color of Distress Ink each: Candied Apple, Dried Marigold, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, and Salvaged Patina. Then, I placed the Bubble Waves stencil over each of the panels and blended a darker Distress Ink on top: Barn Door over Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin over Dried Marigold, Mustard Seed over Squeezed Lemonade, Mowed Lawn over Twisted Citron, and Peacock Feathers over Salvaged Patina. I adhered each rectangle into place, in standard rainbow order.

The final piece I needed to put together was my sentiment. Using watercolor safe Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink, I stamped out the sentiment “Sending you oceans of love”. I then used Candied Apple, Dried Marigold, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron & Salvaged Patina Distress Inks to watercolor a rainbow ombré over the sentiment. I fussy cut the sentiment out and set it aside.

Using liquid adhesive and foam tape, I adhered all the elements to my card. I also used some iridescent half bubbles to my project to give an embellished bubble effect. And my card was completed!
