Personalised Dino Birthday Bash

Hello, Tallie here again with you today. One of the greatest things about making your own greeting cards is that you can personalise them to suit recipients with unique names. My nephew loves dinosaurs and the fact he now has a card with his own name on it – he thinks it’s fantastic! Bonus Auntie points for me! I combined the Dino Time, Geology Rocks, Essential Phrases and Rascal Alphabetters to create this lively birthday card!

Firstly, I started out by stamping all the necessary elements – the dinos from Dino Time and Highland Honeys, and the volcano from Geology Rocks – in some Jet Black ink onto some Alcohol Marker friendly cardstock. I had some fun colouring in these with my Copic markers – my nephew loves bright, bold colours, so I chose greens, blues, oranges and reds. A few highlights with a white gel pen added in some accents and I die cut them all with the coordinating dies.

I die cut some of the Forest Leaves dies and coloured them in with my markers, making sure to use some darker, muted tones (YG60s) to keep these as background features behind the bright dinos.

What really made this card was the ability to personalise my nephew’s name. I die cut some red cardstock using the Rascal Alphabetters dies with the Heffy Mini Die Cutting Machine – perfect for smaller cuts as you can leave this right by you on the desk! And here’s a tip – I snipped my dies into three sections so they fit in the smaller plates. Any left over die cuts I keep in a pocket for the next crafting session!

Now for the fun part – assembly! I used some glubert for the background elements and some foam tape to pop my dinos up from the background scene. I stamped the ‘TODAY’ from the Essential Phrases stamp set, arranging the number and letters accordingly. A little more touch of white gel pen helps to finish this personalised birthday card off!

Give this a go. What name will you be adding to your own cards that can’t be found on the generic shop-bought ones?

Thanks for reading, catch you next time!
