Perfect Combos – Mr and Mrs Dracula

Hello Everyone.

It is Zsofi here, welcome to another edition of my Perfect Combos series. Halloween is getting closer and I love making cute scary cards. Today I want to show you how colours can change the feeling of a card and with a little detail how you can change a character. Let’s get started!

I started with stamping the prince and princess along with the castle from the Happily Ever Crafter set. I also stamped an owl, the Moon and a branch from Hootiful and a candle from Party Paloosa. I used my Cool Gray markers for most of the images, but added a little aqua tint to them as a base layer. It gave a slightly different look, a bit more mysterious I would say. For the owl and branch I opted for Warm Greys to keep the grey feel, but make it more natural. The leaves were coloured with aqua and cool greys again. I used the coordinating dies to cut them all out.

Then I did a little trick on the dresses and the castle: I poured a bit of Copic Colourless blender over a textured cloth and dabbed the coloured images with it. The colourless blender removed some of the colour leaving behind a textured look. Amazing and so easy to do!

I wanted a very scary and foggy background so on a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock I applied Speckled Egg Distress Oxide ink with a blending brush. Then I used the Cloudy skies stencil and added layers of clouds with Evergreen Bough Distress Oxide ink. On the edges I applied a bit of Black Soot and added splatters: diluted  Speckled Egg, Black Soot and a bit of Liquid Pixide Dust from Inkon3.

While the splatters were drying I die cut Heffy Doodle Oreo Crunch cardstock with the Grassy Lass border dies and added a bit of white pigment ink for a foggy look. Perfect for Halloween! I used a Stitched Rectangle die to cut everything down a bit and assembled the scene.

The sentiments are from the Hootiful stamp set, white heat embossed on black cardstock and cut down to very narrow strips.

And now the fun part: with a black Copic Multiliner I drew tiny vampire teeth to the prince and princess! I used a black glaze pen on their eyes and added a bit of clear shimmer to the leaves and the Moon. I also covered the tower roofs and the candle with glossy accents, it makes it more dimensional.

I hope I made you smile with this cute card and inspired you to look at your stamp sets differently. Little details like the colours you choose and adding little extras can stretch your supplies even further.

What a wonderful idea to stretch stamp for different occasions. I love this, and the little trick to add texture is so cool. Thanks for sharing.
