Hello Everyone,
It is Zsofi here, welcome to another edition of my Perfect Combos series. I have a cute birthday card for you which is quite unisex, could work for boys and girls too. I feel I never have enough birthday cards so I came up with a design which is easy enough to make a couple of it or alter it with tiny changes and get a different look. Let me guide you through the process and share some tips.
First I stamped the images from the
Popping by stamp set and coloured them with Copic markers. I used the
coordinating dies to cut them out.
When I need quick cards I prefer using patterned paper than making my own backgrounds. If you like, you can easily exchange the patterned paper with a stenciled background too, it would look awesome!
Heffy Doodle offers a whole bunch of wonderful
stencils to choose from.
To add some instant dimension I die cut the
Scalloped Imperial frame die 3 times from grey cardstock and the
Happy Birthday sentiment 3 times from yellow. I layered them on top of each other, popped up the images with 3D foam tape and my design was ready.
The only thing left was to add finishing touches. I like to use a clear shimmer pen on balloons and glossy accents on the ribbons of the packaging. It makes it so festive and adds a lot to a simply design too. On the eyes I used a black glaze pen, it makes it shiny.
What I really enjoy about this card design is that you can easily alter it to be interactive: Just make the frame a shaker and fill it with clear sequins. The sky is the limit how to change it up a little and get a completely different look.
