Out of this World Christmas

Hello friends! It’s Ashley with one more Christmas card for 2020! I went a bit outside the box for this scene – well, a bit out of this world! I’m sure aliens celebrate the holidays too, right?!

I started by creating a galaxy background on Heffy Doodle white cardstock. I wanted it to end up more purple than blue, so I used Distress Oxides in Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves, Wilted Violet, and Dusty Concord as the base. I then came in with some Black Soot Distress Ink to darken it up. For the stars, I sprayed the whole piece with with water twice, dabbing after each spray with a paper towel. Then I splattered a bit of white acrylic paint for some brighter spots.

I wanted a moon on the bottom for a little alien to stand on, but the stamp did not cover the area I was hoping for. So, I made a moon by die cutting a piece of Oyster Shell cardstock with one of the Stitched Circle dies and trimmed it to fit. I blended some Pinkfresh Studio Rocky Slope ink to shade the bottom and sides, the randomly stamped the craters from You’re Weird in the same color.

I stamped the Christmas tree from Wanna Build a Snowman, the alien from You’re Weird, the spaceship and star from Spaced Out, and the candy cane from Santa’s Village on Alcohol Marker Friendly cardstock then colored with Copics. I fussy cut everything out and added the images to my card. For the sentiment, I stamped the “zoomed” sentiment from Spaced Out in VersaMark ink on Oreo Crunch cardstock and embossed with white. I added this to my card with foam tape. I then die cut the Merry die and Christmas die from Oreo Crunch and added them to my moon. As a finishing touch, I used a white gel pen to add some more stars to the sky and a few highlights to my moon.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day and holiday season!
