No Line Water Color Card

Hello, Heffy Doodle friends! It’s Cassie here, and I’m jumping back on the Heffy Doodle blog today to share a card I whipped up with the help of some inspiration from the crafty world. Yesterday the Heffy Doodle team and the My Sweet Petunia collaborated on a blog hop. The projects were amazing and you definitely need to go check it out (and don’t forget to comment on the posts for a chance to win a great prize!). So, after hopping along I noticed a couple of the My Sweet Petunia ladies had done the no line coloring technique, and I was itching to pull out my watercolor markers and do it as well! Here’s the outcome of that…

It’s a pretty simple, one layer card, but it’s so sweet. I started by die cutting the stitched rectangle from the Clover Frames die set out of some Bristol Smooth card stock. Then I stamped the lion from the Ad-roar-able Lions set in a light Distress Ink color. I’m pretty sure I used Scattered Straw, but you could use and lighter color and stamp it off once if needed. Then I grabbed my Arteza water color markers and colored him in using a paint brush and water to pull the color out. I also put some gray around the bottom of the lion and pulled it out so it looked like he was sitting on the ground.

Then I grabbed a sentiment from Lucky Friends and my Misti and stamped “I’m so” and “because you love me” leaving enough  room for lucky to be stamped in between them in a different color. I thought the card needed a little something more since it was such a simple design, so I stamped the little hearts from Eggcellent News in Spun Sugar Distress Ink and colored them in with a Zig Clean Color Real Brush marker. In case you’re curious- I have both Arteza water color markers and the Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. I love them both, and only change which I’m using based on what color I want. They’re both great quality!

I attached my die cut rectangle to a card base and the card was complete! I hope you enjoyed my design for today:) I’m going to have to start pulling out my water color mediums a lot more! I’ve been so stuck on Copics lately, this was a nice change of pace. Thank you so much for stopping by! I’ll see you again soon with another card!
