Nessie Shadow Box Card

Hello everyone,

It’s Lesley here. I am standing in for Davina today and I wanted to share my Nessie Shadow Box Card with you all. You probably know by now that we moved to Scotland this year – as if our new release didn’t already give it away! LOL. As soon as the stamp samples arrived, i knew exactly what I wanted to create – a Scottish themed thank you card for the solicitors that helped us secure our new digs!

Of course, I had to use the Highland Honeys stamp set and use the cute Loch Ness Monster – but I also wanted to pair this up with the Home Sweet Home set – it was the perfect combo for this project!

For added interest, i thought it would be fun to create a Shadow Box card using the Big Shadow Box dies. I love how this creates a card with a real WOW factor!

Here is my final card! Can you guess all the products I have used?

First of all, I took a piece of Greenbean card stock and inked it up using the Highlander stencil with some green ink. I used a mix of Peeled Paint and Mowed Lawn Distress inks to get a multi-tonal effect. This stencil gives a fabulous tartan effect and to add some extra interest, I took a ruler and a red pen and added some extra lines to the card. Then I die cut two panels using the Big Shadow Box die.

I used the Marvellous Mountains stencil to ink up a piece of card to go inside my big shadow box, using brown ink for the mountains, and then turning around my stencil to cover the mountains so I could add a blue inky sky. This stencil makes life really easy! This time I decided not to add the snow caps – just to mix it up!

I then cut some panels using the mix of dies from the Slimline Scenery dies. Even though this is not a slimline card, the dies can be used for shorter projects! So handy! I used a piece of blue vellum to go in front of my Nessie to make it feel like he was swimming in the water!

I added my stamped and coloured images – including the teeny tiny SOLD sign outside the house! There is a selection of tiny words that can go in this sign- but remember the stamp is tiny, so make sure you keep track of them! You might also want to tap very lightly with your ink pad to make sure there is no ink smudging when stamping them.

To finish, I grabbed my Swirly Cloud Dies and Bold Banner sentiment stamps – two of my favourite go-to supplies, perfect for every occasion!

This card folds down so easily to fit into an A2 envelope – so easy peasy, and yet looks incredible! I hope you will give the Big Shadow Box die a go!

Before I go, don’t forget that you can still get the free exclusive ‘Just A Note’ stamp and die – only available via the Heffy Doodle store. Orders over £30 will get the stamp for free, and orders over £45 will get both the stamp and the die. No code necessary. Head over to the Heffy Doodle store to get yours Now!

Thanks for joining me today, and have a great weekend!

Lesley
