Mix and Match – November Challenge

Hey crafty friends, It’s Amanda from Pear Blossom Press again, here to announce the winner of the October challenge and issue a new one for November! I’d like to thank everyone who entered the Heffy Doodlers Color Snapshot challenge last month. We used Davina’s palette to create some really cute cards! Make sure you’ve joined the Heffy Doodlers group on Facebook. You can share your projects and meet new crafty friends. I try to share Lesley’s weekly videos there too, as soon as she goes live.

Please help me congratulate Lucy Dyer on her winning entry for October! How adorable is this shadow box card, full of chubby unicorns? I love it! You can see Lucy’s card, along with all of the other entries in the Facebook album. All entries (except those by Lesley and the current design team) were assigned a number, in order of posting. We used random.org to choose the winning number.

Last month, we were inspired by Davina’s Color Snapshot series. This month, we thought it would be fun to highlight another series for the Heffy Doodlers Challenge. Have you been following Amanda Fitterer’s Mix and Match series? (Yes, we have two Amandas on the team 😉 Amanda has been combing stamps from multiple sets to create different scenes. The beauty of having the same artist (our fearless leader Lesley) draw all of the images in the Heffy Doodle line, means that the styles from one set to the next will coordinate!

Amanda’s Mix and Match series has inspired my card today, and I hope it will inspire one for you too. We’d love to see what you make! Using Heffy Doodle products (mostly), create a card using images from two or more stamp sets. Post it in the challenge album and enter to win a £35 shop credit! (That’s a nifty prize!) The challenge starts now in the Heffy Doodlers Facebook Group, and runs through November 29th.

My inspirational card features a pair of pups from Yappy Happy Mail and the Christmas tree from Wanna Build A Snowman. I stamped the pup on the left first, and masked him off, so I could stamp the tree behind him. I colored the images with Copic markers and added a soft drop shadow around them with pale blue markers. To ground the pup on the left and the tree, I added some darker shading underneath.

To pull the card together, I trimmed the panel down and mounted it to a pattern paper card base. My sentiment is a combo of a stamp and the Wishes Heffy Cuts (stacked three layers high for dimension). A blue star glued to the flying pup’s hands, adds a bit more sparkle and dimension. Since I didn’t draw in a scene, this is a quick card to make. It would be great for mass production of holiday cards.

Alright, are you feeling inspired? Pull out your Heffy Doodle stamps and create a card using stamps from at least two stamp sets. To enter, go to the Heffy Doodlers Facebook Group and post a picture of your project in the November Challenge album (it will be pinned to the top). Enter as many cards as you like. The winner will be randomly chosen from all entries posted prior to Midnight (UT) on November 29th, 2020. You are not limited to cards, feel free to post tags, scrapbook pages, home decor projects, etc. Just be sure the bulk of the stamps and dies used are from Heffy Doodle, and that your project incorporates the Mix and Match theme. Good luck my friend!

Questions, just ask. Need some more inspiration to get you started? Follow Heffy Doodle on Pinterest! You can find boards with themes and specific stamp sets. Got an idea, but need some new Heffy Doodle goodies? Head on over to the shop and treat yourself. Remember, you enter the challenge in the Facebook group, not here. Oh, and let’s keep it PG please 😉

I’ll be back on December 1st to announce the winner and the next challenge. Until then, keep an eye out for more new series from the design team, and I’ll see you on Facebook…
