Lucky Stars

Hello Heffydoodlers! Ali here with another fun project – with some added interactive goodness. I’ve used the wonderful Hootiful Stamp Set, the Stitched Circles Dies and the Stargazer Backdrop die to create this card and made the stars ‘light up’ with some @pearblossompress EZ-lights. These products are all available in the Heffydoodle Stamps online Shop!

I began the card by stamping and coloring the images with Copics. I used Warm Greys (W00, W1, W3, W5, W7) to color the Owls and Greens G11 and G46 to color the leaves. I die cut a piece of Huckleberry Cardstock with the Stargazer Backdrop Die and then die-cut a stitched circle from the piece. I randomly brushed some Hickory Smoke Distress ink on it to further give the illusion of a night-sky. I spattered this with white Gesso paint and set aside to dry.

I adhered a circle of vellum behind the night-sky circle piece to cover the star openings. I placed the battery in the EZ-light and positioned the 3 lights behind 3 of the stars on the circle piece and taped them down with purple tape. I usually wind the ‘excess’ length of light cord around my finger into a circle and adhere out of the way so that it is neat and tidy on the back of the piece. I adhered the battery pack part so that the ‘button’ was on the left-bottom part of the night sky piece.

I adhered the images (stamping ‘press here’ on the branch using the Interactively Yours Stamp Set) and assuring that the leaves with ‘stamp here’ were over the top of where the EZ-light button was positioned on the back of the piece. I placed two layers of 3D foam on the back of the night-sky circle to allow for the slight bulk of the battery pack. I adhered this night-sky circle piece to a circle of silver shiny cardstock – this enhances the ‘glow’ of the EZ lights behind the stars. I then adhered this piece to the front of a white card base.

I finished by stamping the sentiment on black cardstock with, white embossed it and cut into strips, adhering to the night-sky circle.

Hope you enjoyed this card and that you are inspired to try your own interactive cards!

Ali xx
