Llama Herd Scene

Hello, Heffy Doodlers! Tallie back here with another Copic-coloured scene! This time I am featuring the Llamazing Llamas stamp set and have a whole herd of llamas to tell you you’re pretty llamazing!

As is usual with any scene card, you have to plan out the layout so no llama is left out or crowded in the corner! On this card in particular, it was important to identify the llamas in the foreground so I could stamp them first, mask and then carry on stamping the elements right out to the cacti in the background. I repeatedly used all the llamas across the scene, varying them to get some movement into the herd. I used some Lawn Fawn Jellyfish Ink and some Heffy Doodle Alcohol Marker Friendly Paper – my favourite combo for no-line colouring!

Once the scene was all stamped out, I started in with the colouring. I used my Copic alcohol markers, and made sure to start with the background (the bright blue sky and washed out brown dirt floor) so there would be no chance of bleed-through for the light llama coats.

The llamas were really fun to colour. I chose some light warm grey markers for their faces and feet and some light yellowy browns for their coats. Here’s a tip: use ‘c’ type shapes to give their coats that fluffy look!

I went in with my coloured pencils to add some of the finer details and stamped out the ‘you are pretty llamazing’ sentiment from the set in some Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink.

A really fun scene – perfect to send to a llama-loving friend!
