Let’s Hang Out with Koren Wiskman

Hello everyone, Koren here with a fun card using the NEW Chimply the Best stamp set and coordinating dies. I think the monkeys in this set are just the cutest ever! I paired them with the NEW Amazonian Leaves dies to create a fun card created to remind a friend to hang out soon.

I started with a piece of Neenah 110 lb. Solar White Classic Crest cardstock cut to 3 1/2 by 4 3/4 inches. I took the Heffy Doodle Cloudy Skies Stencil and some Distress Oxide ink in Mustard Seed, Fossilized Amber and Squeezed Lemonade. Combining these colors and rotating the stencil for different variations of clouds really created a nice warm sunny background- the yellows really help accomplish this. I used my Nuvo Blender Brushes to blend on the ink.

To lighten up the background a touch, I cut two rows of clouds, one each for the top and bottom of my card panel. I used Heffy Doodle’s Silver Lining’s Cloud Border Dies. Before adhering these to the background I decided to cut a few leaves into the mix so that we were looking at the tops of trees and the clouds and not just monkeys hanging out in the clouds.

To do this I cut the Heffy Doodle Amazonian Leaves Dies from various materials and cardstocks. I ended up with a nice variety of greens and a cork leaf thrown in the mix with I absolutely love.

To enhance the scene further I stamped the monkeys and some of the bananas as well as the vines. For the lined images, I intended to use my alcohol markers to color them so they were stamped using Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink. The solid vine images were stamped using Altenew Moss and Olive ink. Using both of those colors creates a little bit of variance in the color which to me makes it look more interesting. I use sponge daubers to apply the ink when I blend two colors of ink together like this.

Once all of my images and background pieces have been created and cut out, I can then adhere everything together. I start by putting plenty of foam adhesive on the back of my cloud borders. This way I can attach all of my leaves and vines to the background without having to apply adhesive to each one individually. I tucked each leaf into place and then added some liquid adhesive to the pieces that needed a little help before adding the strips to the top and bottom of the card panel.

I used Scotch 3M Foam Tape to adhere all of the monkeys into place as well as their little bananas.

As for the sentiment, I stamped the “let’s hang out soon” from the Chimply the Best stamp set, onto one of the darker green cardstocks with Nuvo Clear Mark embossing ink and heat embossed it using Ranger White embossing powder. I cut it down into a strip and popped it up using the same foam tape.

I added the completed panel to a Simon Says Stamp Fog card base cut to size A2 and scored in a top folding portrait orientation.

I hope that I’ve inspired you to create a little something today using your Heffy Doodle Supplies.
