Koality Friendship Card

Hi Heffy Doodle Friends!

I’m back with a cute card that I made for a friend of mine. I think the Koality Hugs stamp set is perfect for a friendship card! Let’s see how this came together!

I die cut a rectangle piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock since I was going to do some ink blending. Yes, doing that again. I just absolutely love getting inky 🙂

I used the Heart Masquerade stencil first. So I started with the part of the stencil that had the heart cut out. I placed it on top of my panel and ink blended a red heart with Oxide ink in the color Festive Berries. I also put down some Lumberjack Plaid on the edges but you can’t really notice it on the finished card. Then I put down the heart part of the stencil to mask off my ink blended heart. I put the Simple Sunburst stencil on top and ink blended those sunrays with Fossilized Amber. When I removed the stencil, I took what was left on my brush and blended it on the rest of the card. Otherwise a part of the background would be too white. I do love the subtle tone on tone effect.

For my grass, I started with Kiwi Crush cardstock that I die cut with the same rectangle dies as before. To create the grass I used a grassy border. You can perfectly use Grassy Lass Border dies for it. On the edges of the grass I did blend some Mowed Lawn. This works well with my ink blended background. Then I splattered on some white gouache all over the background and the grass, just to gain some interest.

I stamped out all of my images from the Koality Hugs and 2×2 Safari Animals stamp set. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink cause I really wanted to use my Zig clean color real brush markers again.

I let the ink dry for just a bit and then I colored everything in. Here is an overview of the colors I used:

  • Koalas: Light Gray / Gray Brown / Dark Gray / Peach Pink / Blender
  • Leaves: Light Green / May Green / Green / Blender
  • Tree: Mid Brown / Dark Brown / Blender

Of course I die cut them out with the coordinating dies and the cute mini die cutting machine.

Time for the most fun part: the assembling of the card. I positioned my images where I wanted them to go. Before adhering everything, I had to stamp my sentiment first. But in that way, I could figure out the perfect placement for my ‘sending you koality hugs’ sentiment. I prepped my card panel with my powder tool, stamped the sentiment in versamark ink and sprinkled on white embossing powder. After that I heat set it with my heat gun. With my sentiment in place, I could adhere all my little images. I put some down with foam squares and a few others with liquid glue. This creates the look of dimension on the card.

I adhered my panel on a A2 sized card panel and my card was all done. I’m happy with how it turned out and I hope you like it as well. Thank you so much for your ongoing support. I will be back soon. Bye!

Love, Jarle x
