I Miss You–Distress Ink Masking Card

Hello, everyone and welcome back to Heffy Doodle! It’s Cassie here, and I’m back after what was a long weekend (for me anyways!) with another card to share with you. Here in the states we celebrated Thanksgiving which means Black Friday just happened as well. For those who haven’t seen the awesome sale Heffy Doodle has, you need to check it out! The sale goes through the 28th, so there’s still time to take advantage of the discount!

Alright! On to my card for today! I used a couple stamp sets to create a super bright and fun card. I also used a couple masking techniques to achieve my desired look today. Here it is:

I started by stamping the cute little camera from Happy Snappy Crocs all over a 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 piece of Neenah Solar White card stock. I colored them all in with my Copics. I hadn’t had a plan when I first started my card, so at this point I knew I wanted to add color to the background, and I wanted it to be fun and bright. So I grabbed my Molotow masking pen and added the masking fluid over each tiny little camera. This process is a little time consuming, but in the end so pretty! Once the masking fluid was dry I used my Distress Oxides to ink blend over the panel. I use (from top left clockwise) Wild Honey, Worn Lipstick, Peacock Feathers,  and Cracked Pistachio. Once I had everything blended nicely I added some water splatter, dried it with a paper towel, and let the whole thing dry completely. It’s important to let the paper dry so that when you go to take off the masking fluid you don’t rip your paper.

With my finger, I gently rubbed the masking fluid away on all the cameras. There is a spot or two where my paper tore because I was being too quick, but thankfully with the splatter look you wouldn’t notice it as much. To hide any imperfections even better, I lightly splattered some black and white paint over the panel. It’s important to note that each color was allowed to dry before splattering the next color. Next I die cut a couple Polaroid photo dies from more Neenah paper. On the inside piece I stamped some of the sweet little bears from Unbearable Without You. I masked them by stamping them on post it paper and stamping over that. They were colored in with Copics and so was the background. I also added some white gel dots to the background to add a little interest.

Finally, I stamped the sentiment I Miss You from the same Unbearable Without You set, on one of the photos. Both photos were popped up with foam tape onto the center of the card. I adhered the whole thing onto a card base, and that finishes it for this project! I hope you enjoyed this bright pop of color 🙂 Thank you so much for stopping by, and I’ll see you again soon with another card!!
