Hot Diggity Dog with Koren Wiskman

Hello everyone, Koren here with a card using the Hot Diggity Dog stamp set and the Shadow Box die set, both from the NEW Heffy Doodle release.

I very rarely create interactive or cards that are “extra” in any way. I tend to shy away from any projects that involve too much thought. This project was made easy by using the NEW Shadow Box die set from Heffy Doodle.

I started by cutting out all of the pieces I will need to construct the shadow box, as well as the images I plan to use on it. I cut the main box frame from an off-white cardstock.  This piece gets cut twice in order to form the box. The interior layers were cut from a coordinating grass green color in order to make it look cohesive.

My idea for the card is to create the appearance as though the dog or dogs were running around causing complete chaos (as many people have experienced with puppies or maybe even the more mature dogs that are just more fun-loving).

To pull this off, I started to develop a scene for my cards I stamped the images in alcohol marker friendly ink and colored them up using a combination of different brands of alcohol markers. (See color map for exact markers used) . I then used their coordinating dies to cut them out.

I also used the Build A Forest die set also by Heffy Doodle to cut out a tree for the background.

Once all of the images and elements were cut out I was ready to start building the card. I used 1/4 inch tear tape adhesive to adhere everything together starting with the two main pieces to the shadow box. Then I carefully started to place the elements of the card in their intended location using liquid adhesive and glue dots to affix them in place.  I layered the images in my scene starting with the tree in the very back and moving forward.  The center of the shadow box has the image of the flower pot tipped over and a broken stem laying next to it, almost as if the dog or dogs had tipped it over whilst playing. Toward the front of the box, I adhered the hose image in a way that made it appear to be wildly unhinged and spraying water everywhere.

For the sentiment, I stamped the “bark less play more” from the same Hot Diggity Dog stamp set with watermark ink and heat embossed it using white embossing powder.  I then cut it into a strip to be applied to the very front of the card.

Last but not least I adhered the puppy catching a frisbee on the front and another puppy image hiding behind a bush to fill in the back of the scene.

I hope that I’ve inspired you to create something today.

Koren
