*HOORAY* It’s Your Birthday!

Hello everyone!

Time for another project in my Sweet Scenes series for Heffy Doodle!

For this week’s card, I chose a JUMBO sentiment as the focal point. I always love cards with big fun and bright sentiments!

I started by die cutting the second to largest Stitched Rounded Rectangle out of Bristol Smooth cardstock. Then I took out my beloved Distress Oxides in the colors Salvaged Patina, Pine Needles and Chipped Sapphire to ink up the background. I go back and forth between my different colors until I get that smooth blend. It’s really important to go over the colors a few times.

Then I placed my Twinkle Twinkle stencil on top of my blended background. I always use my Wendy Vecchi Make Art station for this. I smeared some Fairy Dust stencil paste through that stencil to get that lovely glittery detail on my background. Then I set it aside to dry.

Tip: Always clean your stencil immediately when you’re done! Or you won’t get that stencil paste off…

Meanwhile, I stamped my images from the Poppin By stamp set with Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink on alcohol marker friendly cardstock. I colored them in with my Copic Markers:

  • Mouse: W4 – W2 – W00 / R30 – R00
  • Little gift: RV17 – RV14 – RV14 / Y35 – Y15 – Y13

Of course I die cut them out with the coordinating dies and my mini die cutting machine. I did decide to add some white gel pen details on the black outlines of the images.

Then I took a bright pink cardstock and die cut the Jumbo Hooray sentiment out of it. I did the same thing with plain white cardstock for my shadow. I decided to add a little bit of ink all around the sentiment with Altenew Ruby Red dye ink. This just gave it that little extra something.

I glued my pink sentiment on the white shadow, a little bit at an offset. And when my background panel was dry, I adhered the whole sentiment on top of it.

My images were popped up with a little bit of foam tape, just below the jumbo sentiment. Then I also added a few white dots with my gel pen all around the background panel.

I did die cut the largest Stitched Rounded Rectangle as well, using the yellow paper from The Greatest Show paper pad. I adhered my ink blended panel on top of that yellow background. This gave my card just a little yellow border, which I love.

And this finishes off my card. I hope you lik the inspiration!

Thank you SO much for taking the time to read this blog post through. It means the world! Have a great day!

Love, Jarle x
