Heffy New Year 2018!!!!!

Welcome and Happy new year to all Heffy Doodlers out there from all of us here at Heffy Doodle!!!

We wish you all the best for 2018 and lots of very creative ideas !!!

Today I (Maria ) have the honor to share with you the first blogpost of 2018!!!  As most of you probably had a wild party night last night our Heffy Doodle critter had a little party of their own, have a look:

I started with a white cardbase for this New Year Card and then diecut a white panel using a Mama Elephant die.

Then it was time for my trusty distress inks. I used peacock feathers, salty ocean, picked raspberry, seedles preserves, chipped saphire and black soot to ink up m background using a blending tool.

To develop my nightsky I then flicked some shimmer mist onto the card and also some clear wink of stella for a shiny sky. As my sky needed more stars I took my trusty white gel pen and added a few white dots here and there until I was satisfied with the result. I just love galaxys and nightskys.

As I knew that this sky was for new years I had to add some nice fireworks from a retired stampsset from Stampin Up. I stamped the fireworks in versamark and heatembossed them with golden embossing powder.

As our little critter party gang needed something to stand on I diecut some grass using a lawnfawn border die that I blended with some green ink to make it look more real. I also ran it through my diecutting machine with the panel die  so that the bottom would fit on top of the sky panel. As I wanted to make this card extra special I decided to make the firework light up . To have the lights shine through I punched 3 little holes into the center of the fireworks and layered a piece of vellum behind it. On my whisper white base I drew some dots and lines to know where to put my copper tape and where my lights and the batteries. I used copper tape and lights from Chibitronics as they are very easy to work with and work very good too. I put down my tape and lights and build my little circuit that looked like that.

On the left side I placed a little flap for the battery and tried my circuit with the battery to see if it worked properly. Brings me back to my physic class back in school which i really enjoyed.

And YAY!!!All three lights lit up!! Woohooooooo!!!!

then I put lots of foamtape arround the circuit and battery so the lights would only light up when the button was pushed and Adhered the background panel on top of the base-foam-construction.

So everyone would know where to push , I stamped the push here from the Interactively yours and punched it using a very small circle punch out of yellow carstock. I then glued it down on top of the battery and small firework on the left side of the card.

It´s time for the Party Guests to arrive, don´t you think? I stamped the Lion from Adroarable Lions, the Elephant from Elephant of Surprise and the Bear from Unbearable Without you onto shimmery White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. After coloring them with watercolores I dicut them using the coordinating dies ( Lion, Bear, Elephant) and added my little details using a white gel pen and black glaze pen from Sakura.  I then adhered them to the card using liquid glue.

To make the card even more festive I stamped and diecut the Bottle and glasses from the Happy Snappy Crocs stamp and Dieset and colored them with watercolors as well and also added some extra sparkling shimmer to the champagne in the glasses using the stardust clear gel pen from Sakura. Each critter got a glas of champagne in their tiny hand/paw and the bottle rests next to the bear on the ground for a second round.

I also wanted to let our Party guests have some cute party hat. For that I used the little Pizza-piece and the smalles thought cloud from the Unbearable Without you Stamp and Dieset and created 3 little hats with some shimmery details. Sometimes you just have to stretch the use of your stamps and dies 🙂 and I think it turned out awesome!!!

For the sentiment I took the Jet Alpabetters stamp set and stamped the sentiment HAPPY NEW YEAR letter by letter in black ink onto some denim color cardstock.  After stamping I added some white details on the right side of each letter and went over the black letters again with my black glaze pen so make it shiny. I then cut some flags into both ends and popped the sentiment piece up on foam dots to give it more dimention.

After everything was glued down the final big moment came….the first light up of the completed card.

I also made a video for you to see how the card lights up:

So Happy New Year everyone!!! I hope you made it through this very loooooong blogpost and that you enjoy our New Year greeting to you!! Do you have any creative new Year´s resolutions? Let us know in the comments down below, please!!!

Happy Crafting everybody!!!

Maria 🙂

Super adorable!! I love the Chibi effect you added to the fireworks. I will have to pull out my Chibis soon since I’m inspired by your card! Thank you for sharing it and Happy New Year!
