Sending Hedgehugs Card

Hey everyone, Claudia (@mrsclocards) here with this encouraging card featuring the Quill You Be Mine stamps and dies.

I love Clean and Simple cards but I totally suck on making them: last week, though, I was recovering from a very bad stomach flu and I wasn’t really in the mood for complicated cards.. this little hedgehog was perfect for making a cute card all by himself!

I started by stamping the cute critter from the Quill You Be Mine stamp set and the apple (multiple times) with Memento Rich Cocoa ink on Heffy Doodle Alcohol Markers Friendly Cardstock and colored them with Copic markers using E10s and E30s for the hedgehog and rainbow colors for the apples.

I added deatails with a white gel pen and die cut them using the coordinating dies.

For the background, I took a small piece of Heffy Doodle white heavy cardstock and masked it in the middle with a piece of Heffy Memo Tape, then I ink blended the upper part using Distress Oxide Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers and Pine Needles. I also added splatters using a white watercolor and a mix of Peacock Feathers and Pine Needles inks.

I trimmed down the ink blended panel and temporarily placed the images on the base for centering the coordinating sentiments from the Quill You Be Mine stamp set. I stamped them using Versafine Onyx Black ink and I heat embossed the second row using Wow! Primarly Bluetiful embossing powder.

At this point I used foam squares to add the die cut images and I glued the ink blended background to a slightly bigger white base; however, I wanted something more (that’s why I say I’m not good on CAS cards!!) so I ink blended Distress Oxide Peacock Feathers and Pine Needles on a small strip of cardstock, I used the straight stitched die from the Slimline Scenery dies in the middle to create two long pieces that I added on the sides before gluing everything to a card base.

Oh, and before I go, are you signed up to the Heffy Doodle newsletter? Why not join the mailing list here

I hope you like this week’s project and see you soon!

Happy crafting.

Thanks a lot, Carol! It wasn’t easy but, at least, it helped me to focus on something else ^__^
