Have a Snappy Day! Watercolors & Nuvo Drops

Hello everyone! It’s Cassie here, and I’m back with another card to share with you all. I have to admit, I’m getting really excited because in just a couple days I’ll be in the (hopefully) sunny Phoenix, Arizona with Lesley and some of the Heffy Doodle crew for Creativation!!! That fun bit of news inspired me to create a very happy scene for my card today. I’m using the Happy Snappy Crocs set for this fun card.

I started by stamping the cutest little croc who looked like he was running on some Bristol Smooth card stock. I wanted to watercolor him, so I needed a card stock that was thicker and could withstand using water on it. I did a pretty simple watercolor technique, only really using two colors. I set him aside to dry and moved on to the background.

I die cut a background with stitched clouds (from Lawn Fawn) and a cute little grassy ground for my croc to stand on, and used Distress Ink and my blending tools on each. The sky got some Broken China on the edges, where as the grassy got Lucky Clover. As you can tell, I splattered some water on each of these pieces to get some fun bleached looking effects. The paper I used for these was just a heavy weight card stock, so I didn’t let the water sit on it for too long, and dabbed it up with a paper towel. Personally, I love this distressed look!

Once everything was completely dry I adhered all the pieces together. The croc was adhered with foam tape so he stood out a little bit. I used my Mini Misti Stamping Tool to stamp the sentiment in VersaMark over the clouds, and heat embossed some dark gray embossing powder over it.

When I had that finished, I knew my card was missing something. So I grabbed my Nuvo Crystal Drops and started making some confetti for him to run through. It makes it look like there’s a party going on! I also love the color it adds to the card.
