Fluffy Puffy Unicorn in Candyland!

Hello crafty friends! My name is Peggy Emmerink and welcome to my Heffy Doodle blog series called Color Wheel Combos! I usually choose the colors for my card either intuitively or get inspiration from fellow crafters. But for this series, I wanted to get up close and personal with color by using a color wheel to help me choose colors that work well together. I hope to learn a lot for myself along the way. But I certainly hope you will enjoy going on this journey of discovery with me! Let’s get started!

My card today uses a combination of an analogous color scheme and a complementary color, as shown in the picture below. I chose red/pink, orange and yellow for my analogous colors. On top of that I chose the complementary color of one of those (orange). The complementary color is Blue-Green. Let me tell you how I made this card!

I started with a square card base of 4 3/4 inch x 4 3/4 inch. I covered the front with a piece of the bright blue stripey paper from the Summer Holiday Paper Pack. I cut a slightly smaller square panel from some white cardstock using the Stitched Square Dies. For the large heart, I used the second largest die in Stitched Hearts Dies. And if you like those, I would definitely recommend you grab a set at a discount. Because the Stitched Hearts are retiring. Take a look in the Heffy Doodle Vault.

To ink blend my heart background I used the Cloudy Skies Stencil with some Mermaid Lagoon and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink. I stamped my images from the Fluffy Puffy Unicorns stamp set, the Sweet Stuff stamp set and the Treat Yo Self stamp set. I colored everything with alcohol markers.

Lastly, I adhered everything using a combination of foam tape and liquid glue and stamped a sentiment from Fluffy Puffy Unicorns. I think this color scheme looks super fun! I would love to be this little happy unicorn. How about you!?

Long distance hugs,

Peggy
