Endless Deckled Paper Hugs

Hello Darlings! It’s Jo here from @havefaithincards with a card making idea that can utilise your color coordination, patterned paper, and scrap cardstock. The best part? All that is required, apart from some card, is Heffy Doodle’s Deckled Paper Hugs die set.

Have you ever felt stressed out because you need to create a card but have no time? Well stress not! Honestly, these cards are super quick to make and look fabulous. I will run you quickly through the step by step, as well as share some tips on how I pulled a few of these cards together.

The Deckled Paper Hugs die set includes 5 deckled rectangle dies, as well as the ‘Paper Hugs’ die and its background. I personally decided not to use the background word die, as I wanted the last layer of the rectangle cardstock to shine through wording. I adhered each rectangle layer using double sided stick tape, and die cut the word both with foam paper and cardstock to give the card some extra dimension.

The great thing about this set is that you can really be creative with your color choices, and you do not need to use all the dies. For one card (see above image), I only opted for 4 rectangle layers, as I felt this really suited the design.

For the above card, I used Sarah Renae Clark’s ‘Color Cube’ as inspiration for the color scheme. Another good thing about this set? The smallest rectangle layer is perfect to use up those scrap pieces of cardstock that may be too small to do anything else with 🙂 Why not pull out your scraps and have fun trying to create your own colour palettes with them.

And why not have some fun with patterned paper? Did you know Heffy Doodle has a super cute range of paper pads that would be perfect for this die set? If you haven’t seen them, make sure to check them out here: Heffy Doodles 6×6 Paper Pads.

I hope you have enjoyed this blog post. I hope it has inspired you to be creative with Paper. I rarely make cards that are created with dies only, but this was so much fun, and I think I managed to create such versatile designs. Have fun on your next crafty session 🙂 Crafty Hugs, Jo x
