Creative Color Combos – Chimply the Best

Hello friends and Happy Valentine’s Day!  It’s Ashley with a sweet card and color palette to help celebrate the day! Those colorful bags of candy hearts available now inspired me to find this color combo:

Isn’t it so soft and lovely? I used these colors to create this adorable Valentine card:

Seriously, those monkeys! Love!

I started by blending Lawn Fawn inks in Peach Fuzz and Butter on white cardstock. I splattered a bit of gold acrylic paint on it, then die cut it with the Quilted Heart Background die. I backed it with white cardstock to show through the hearts.

I blended another piece of white cardstock with Distress Oxides in Tumbled Glass and Cracked Pistachio and splattered with gold acrylic paint and light blue ink. I die cut several leaves using Amazonian Leaves and arranged them around the outside of my card.

I stamped the monkeys and vines from Chimply the Best in Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink and colored with Copics before cutting them out with the matching dies. I also grabbed the heart from Otter Side for the monkeys to hold. It is a Valentine’s Day card after all! I tucked the vines behind the leaves then popped the monkeys up with foam squares. I just love how the die for the seated monkey cuts out his hands so he can hold the heart! Such a great detail!

Now I did use brown for my monkeys even though that isn’t part of the color palette. I usually allow myself to use at least one neutral. The color combos are for inspiration, so don’t feel you have to be super strict with them. Do what works for you!

I stamped my sentiment in VersaMark ink on a piece of Oreo Crunch cardstock and embossed with white. For a finishing touch, I used the Skinny Imperial Rectangle Frames to add a white frame around the card.

I am so happy with how this card turned out! Even if you don’t need a Valentine’s card, I think this could be perfect as a thank you or general “I love you” card as well!

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
