Colorful Ink Blended Winter Card

Hi friends!

It’s me, Jarle and I’m back with another project for my Sweet Scenes series for Heffy Doodle!

Since it’s already December, I am working on my Christmas cards. And for today’s project, I decided to share this one with you.

I worked on my background first. I wanted to create a colorful sky, something like the aurora borealis… It didn’t turn out quite like that northern light though 😀

Since I was going to be ink blending, I used Bristol Smooth cardstock. I picked different colors of Distress Oxide inks and just swiped the colors in an upward motion with a blending brush. I used Kitsch Flamingo, Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet and Peacock Feathers. So I didn’t blend those colors… I just went with the different strokes. On the outside edges, I did blend a little bit of Chipped Sapphire. Then I die cut a rectangle with the new Deckled Paper Hugs dies. I used the second to largest die because I wanted a nice border around my inked panel.

Then I stamped the foxes from the Mischief Makers stamp set in Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink on alcohol marker friendly cardstock. I colored them in with the following colors:

  • E37 – YR27 – YR24
  • N0 – 0
  • R22 – R30
  • Scarf: BG13 – BG11 – BG10

Of course I die cut the images, using the coordinating dies and my mini die cutting machine.

For the sentiment, I used the Winter Wishes Shadow Cuts. The words were die cut out of pretty pink cardstock; the shadow out of vellum. I glued the Winter Wishes sentiment onto its shadow. Then I adhered the whole sentiment on the top part of my ink blended panel.

After that, I put down my images with some foam squares for added dimension.

At this point, I did find that my card was missing something.

I decided to cut out a few snowflakes from the Snazzy Snowflakes die set. I glued a few around the sentiment and around the foxes.

I put the whole card panel on a rectangle piece of pink patterned paper (from the older Wild Flowers patterned paper pack). Then I put everything on a white top folded card base.

I’m happy with how my card turned out and I hope you like it too!

Thank you SO much for being here with me today. I really appreciate it!

Love, Jarle x
