Chimply the Best Birthday Slimline Card

Hello crafty friends!!  I’m excited to show you how I made this “chimply” adorable slimline card!

There’s a lot of debate on what size a “slimline” card is.  Really, you just want to make sure it fits in a #10 envelope.  Oddly enough, there are also different sizes of #10 envelopes!  The “standard” size is 4 1/8″ x 9 1/2″, though.

Many of the stamping companies are using a standard “slimline” size as 8.5″ x 3.5″.  For this card, I’m also going to use this size.

I’m starting with a piece of cardstock cut to 8″ x 3″.  I’m using the Mowed Lawn distress ink and a blending brush along with my Fancy Foliage Stencil to create my first layer of my background.  Next, I’m adding in some Twisted Citron all over the background, filling in the white spaces from the stencil, as well as the edges.  Next, I’m adding Lucky Clover, concentrating mostly on the edges.

I’m cutting down another piece of white cardstock to 8.5″ x 3.5″.  I like having a white 1/4″ border around the edge of my slimline cards!  I’m also going to create cute little polaroid frames for my monkeys.  I’m stamping sentiments on them from all over the place!  “Happy Birthday” and “Celebrate!!” are both from the Classic Sentiments stamp set.  “Make a Wish” was one of the freebies from this most recent release.  “Go Bananas!” is from the Chimply the Best stamp set, although (as shown below), I’m masking off the top part of the stamp with Memo Tape.

I use these Amazonian Leaves Die Set ALL the time!!  They’re the perfect size for accents!  I’m cutting them out with my die cutting machine and then coloring them with Copic markers.  I am using YG0000, YG03, YG51, and YG01.

I am using Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp my Chimply the Best monkeys.  I am using this ink pad because it works well with Copic markers.  I’m coloring my stamped images with the following markers:

Bananas:  Y26, Y21, Y11, Y02, Y00, Y000, E42

Monkeys:  E40, E41, E42, E43, E50, E51, E53, R11, R32

Now, onto my accents!  It’s looking like I need a little more color!  So… I am grabbing a party hat from Shellabrate, a balloon from Elephant of Surprise, and a gift from Gnome Matter What.  I’m coloring them in with my Copic markers (R21, R32, R35, Y0000, Y00, Y02).  I’m also adding another sentiment from the Whatcha Sayin’ Stamp Set .  I’m also making some confetti from the Tag Along Dies .

I am using 3D foam adhesive on the polaroids, the leaves, and the monkeys.  I am using a glue pen to adhere the other accents.

Here are some more photos!

Thank you all so much for stopping by!

Xoxo, Amanda
