Cappy Birthday!

Hello, Heffy Crafters! Tallie back with you today with some punny inspiration!

There’s nothing like a capybara or two to put a smile on your face – add in a cute pun and you have bundles of laughs! My birthday scene card today for today’s post features four little capy cuties from the Heffy Doodle Two by Two Safari Animals stamp set, combined with several other die sets.

I had lots of fun creating this card! To start off with, I stamped out the capybaras from the Two by Two Safari Animals stamp set in some Lawn Fawn Jellyfish ink onto a piece of Alcohol Marker Friendly Cardstock – my favourite combo for no-line colouring! I coloured these guys in with my Copic markers, sticking to some bright E30 markers to get a bright contrast to the background. To finish, I went in with my coloured pencils to add in some fine details. I didn’t want the white borders for this card so I fussy cut them out.

To create the background, I die cut several elements from the Freshly Cut Grass and Build a Pond die sets. I then coloured these in with my markers, choosing some bright YGs and BGs. I had fun with the pond, creating lots of horizontal lines and barely blending them in with the blue-green markers. Once finished, I arranged them onto a top-folding card panel I had lightly blended on some Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink on.

To finish, I die cut the Happy Birthday Jumbo Sentiment die and coloured it in the same way as I did to match the pond. To customise it to the scene, I carefully cut off the ‘h’ and replaced it with a ‘c’ from the Moxie Alphabet dies, though I think mine was a little wonky and next time I’ll think about a better placement! This completed my punny sentiment and I adhered it to the base above the scene.

I hope I gave you some inspiration to customise your sentiments and create a bright and punny scene!
