Bright and Starry Carnival Birthday

Hello, crafters! Tallie back here with you today and I hope you’re loving all the wonderful inspiration for the new release. Not long to go now – just a few hours until pre-orders close, so don’t delay and get your order in to get your free Dam Fine Day stamp!

My bright and starry birthday card today features two of the new products: Carnival Star Backdrop die and Happy Birthday Jumbo Sentiment die. Teamed up with the retiring Stitched Stars dies, some distress inks and a gold pen, this makes for a bright and colourful birthday card! It’s a really simple design to customise to any recipient!

I started out by die cutting a white panel from the Carnival Star Backdrop die. This is A2 size – a deviation from my normal A6, but the dimensions work perfectly for this design.

I then got out my Distress Inks in Picked Raspberry, Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn and Peacock Feathers. I prefer these over the oxides because they tend to give brighter colours. Using some Heffy Tape to mask off between sections, I inked up the panel with a rainbow of colours.

Next, I created the centre sentiment by stacking two elements – the Happy Birthday Jumbo Sentiment die and a Stitched Stars die. After die cutting from white cardstock, I covered them with some Versamark Ink and dipped them in Gold Embossing Powder. I had to do this a couple of times to get a thick, smooth die cut.

I chose some black cardstock to bring out the bright colours and adhered these centrally to a black top folding card base. Some finishing touches with a gold gel pen helped to tie the design together!

I hope this has given you some inspiration to give it a go yourself!
