Black and White Zebra Card

Hello crafty friends! My name is Peggy Emmerink and welcome to my Heffy Doodle blog series called Color Wheel Combos! I usually choose the colors for my card either intuitively or get inspiration from fellow crafters. But for this series, I wanted to get up close and personal with color by using a color wheel to help me choose colors that work well together. I hope to learn a lot for myself along the way. But I certainly hope you will enjoy going on this journey of discovery with me! Let’s get started!

For last month’s post I chose a fun rainbow theme. So for this post I decided to try without any (official) color. This cute zebra card I show you today is mainly black and white, with some tiny brown accents as the only ‘colors’. Let me show you how I made this card!

I started with a white standard size card base. I took a slightly smaller stitched rectangle from some ink blending friendly cardstock and used Distress Ink and Distress Oxide in Black Soot and the Zebra Stripe Stencil to create the perfect black and white background for my zebras. I used the Showtime Frame Dies for the Vellum panel with the indented corners and the Kraft panel in the middle.

To decorate the front panel on my card I took the modern style bow from the Present Shaker Dies and cut that in white cardstock. I used a combination of Heffy Doodle Memo Tape and the Rays the Roof Stencil with white pigment ink and a blender brush on the kraft panel. I stamped my images from Two by Two Zoo Animals and the Wavy Banner Sentiment stamps and cut them with the coordinating dies. I colored them with my alcohol markers. I finished my card with white gel pen accents and adhered everything using a combination of liquid glue and foam tape.

Hope you love these happy zebras!

Long distance hugs,

Peggy
