Belated Birthday Greeting

Masking with a focal image

Well hey there, Heffy Doodlers!

It’s Kelly on the blog today with a striking but very simple card that will take no time at all to pull together!

Start out by picking a favorite piece of patterned paper to use as your main background. Trim a piece down to 4.25 x 5.5 inches and then glue that on to a cut and scored 4.25 x 5.5 inch card base.

Either use a rectangle die or your trimmer to cut a white matte piece to 3.5 x 4.75 inches and glue that down to your card base. You can either glue it down flat or, for added visual interest, you can adhere a piece of foam to the back of your matte piece and glue that down. It will pop off the card and make it more interesting!

Use simple images when incorporating masking–it takes a lot less time and work, and you still get a great result! I chose these images from the Party Palooza set and chose the cake as the focal image.

Stamp your focal image in the middle of your matte piece. Then, stamp the same image on to a piece of Heffy Tape to use as your mask. Cut out the image and then lay it over your stamped image on your matte piece. Stamp your other images around your masked one, and then peel away your mask to reveal the completed look of the images! Peeling away a mask is like Christmas morning!

You can finish up your card by coloring your images with whatever medium you like! I chose copic markers, but whatever floats your boat!

Choose a sentiment to finish off your card, and then marvel at your AMAZING skills in putting together such a cute card in such a short time! I chose a word die and a stamp from the Every Day Sentiment Duos set, and there are lots of fantastic Heffy Doodle sets you can choose from!

Thanks for jumping on with me for a bit today, and I hope you have a lovely week!

Kelly
