Make a Cake with Tasha

1. Die cut the shadow layer from Buttercream cardstock. Add a jammy layer using 3 shades of pink, to give a wavy, organic looking split between cake layers. Don’t forget to add some gloopy drops! Shade your 2 cake layers, adding more colour to the edges to give it a rounded appearance. Finally, add a layer of icing on top.
2. Cut the word die from your coloured shadow piece, and add this on top of 3-4 more layers also cut from Buttercream cardstock. Now, add all of those bits onto another shadow die cut, to give you a complete image across the whole piece.
3. Die cut your chosen numbers from Cookie Monster cardstock and add some darker blue shading towards the bottom of each one. Offset a second die cut from Blueberry Bliss to make a small drop shadow for your candles. Cut the 2 layers for the flame of each candle, from Sunny Side Up & Banana Split cardstocks. Layer those up and add to your candles.
4. Create white gel pen highlights to your candles, icing & jam layers. Then include some texture to your cakes by stippling on various areas with the same markers you shaded with. To make the flames really pop, go over them with a Stardust gel pen for a glittery finish.
5. Die cut the Carnival Backdrop cover from Neenah Solar White and add it onto another A2 panel of the same for a tone-on-tone, subtle background that still has a lot of interest. Add your cake/sentiment with foam adhesive then position your candles on top with liquid glue.
6. To embellish, cut some small stars from Gold Mirror Cardstock using the Lovely Little Borders die set and add blue gems to pick out the colour of the candles.
