You’re My Sunshine–Alcohol Ink & Heat Embossing
Hello, everyone! It’s Cassie here, and I’m back to share a fun and bright card that’s perfect to send to someone you love to let them know you’re thinking of them. The Heffy Doodle team is really into alcohol inks right now and I just couldn’t help but give the fun inks another go!
I started out with a glossy piece of a Tim Holtz 4 1/4 by 5/12 inch alcohol ink paper. I added a lot of the alcohol solution to the paper and then added the yellow and blue ink over top. I didn’t want the colors to mix much, so I only let them overlap a little. I went back and forth between adding ink colors and solution. That’s the great part of this medium-even if you mess up you can change it! Once I was happy with how the colors looked I let the paper dry completely and got out my Jet Alphabetters for my sentiment.
I lined the letters up using a ruler and my Misit stamping tool. I’m always so impressed by fellow DT member Ali’s super straight lined up words from the Jet Alphabetters set, so I tried to be maticulous about it. I have to say, it was the best I’ve lined them up yet! I inked the letters up with VersaMark and heat embossed white embossing powder over them. I also heat embossed the sentiment ‘I love you beary much’ from the Beary Big Heart set with gold embossing powder just below my personalized sentiment “you are my sunshine.”
Next I stamped the cute sitting bear and umrella from the Beary Big Heart set onto some smooth paper that is good for Copic coloring. I just found that the 110 lb white cardstock from Michael’s works lovely for Copic coloring! And I love the way it is so sturdy when die cut. Once they were colored in I used the coordinating die cuts for Beary Big Heart.
I adhered the bear with some glue and popped the umbrella up with foam tape. To finish the card I added some cute polka dots to the umbrella and adhered it to a card base. Thank you so much for stopping by the Heffy Doodle blog! I hope you enjoyed my card, and I will see you again soon with another one!! Have a great day 🙂
