You Bet Giraffe I’m Thinking of You
Hello crafty friends! My name is Peggy Emmerink and welcome to my Heffy Doodle blog series called Color Wheel Combos! I usually choose the colors for my card either intuitively or get inspiration from fellow crafters. But for this series, I wanted to get up close and personal with color by using a color wheel to help me choose colors that work well together. I hope to learn a lot for myself along the way. But I certainly hope you will enjoy going on this journey of discovery with me! Let’s get started!
I went for a relatively clean and simple design today in calm and natural colors (although I’ve never seen a giraffe quite this yellow). The colors of green, yellow and blue fall into the analogous color scheme. For the two panels I used for my card I used the Mini Slimline Imperial Rectangle Dies. I used the largest one to cut a piece of blue paper and the second largest to cut a panel I could ink blend on. I used Heffy Doodle Memo Tape to mask off the ground for my giraffe to sit on.
I used Distress Ink in the color Tea Dye for the ground and Distress Oxide Ink in Antique Linen for the base coat for my background. Over top of the base coat I used Distress Oxide in Rustic Wilderness and Shabby Shutters through the Fancy Foliage Stencil. I tied a piece of thin natural rope around my panel and fixed it with a bow. I adhered the panel using foam tape.
I stamped the giraffe from Two by Two Safari Animals with some of the tiny leaves and twigs from the set in some alcohol marker friendly ink on alcohol marker friendly cardstock. I stamped the thinking of you sentiment from Pebble Sentiments in black ink. I adhered everything with liquid glue and foam tape.
Look at that cute giraffe living its best life. This will certainly make any recipient’s day just a little bit sunnier. Hope you have been inspired!
Long distance hugs,
Peggy
