Wild at Heart Rainbow Card
Hello crafty friends! My name is Peggy Emmerink and welcome to my Heffy Doodle blog series called Color Wheel Combos! I usually choose the colors for my card either intuitively or get inspiration from fellow crafters. But for this series, I wanted to get up close and personal with color by using a color wheel to help me choose colors that work well together. I hope to learn a lot for myself along the way. But I certainly hope you will enjoy going on this journey of discovery with me! Let’s get started!
How could I not do a rainbow card for pride month?! So here it is! A full rainbow card in all its full color wheel glory! Of course inclusion takes place 365 days of the year. But a little extra attention for pride month is warranted! Let me tell you how I made this card.
I started with a full range of distress oxide inks in rainbow colors, choosing a light and a darker one of each color. I chose to lean more into pink than into red. I first did a rainbow coating all around my white cardstock panel in the lighter colors. I lay the Simple Sunburst Stencil over it and blended the darker colors over top. I cut a panel of vellum to fit between the bottom and top panel. The top panel I cut from some kraft cardstock. I masked the sides of the cardstock panel with some Heffy Doodle Memo Tape and ink blended a little sky and grassy ground, using the Cloudy Skies Stencil and the Green Fields Stencil.
I stamped the sweet giraffes from Two by Two Safari Animals as well as the little heart. I colored everything in rainbow colors with my alcohol markers, again leaning more towards pinks than reds. I heat embossed a sentiment from the Wild at Heart Sentiment Stamps in the corner with white embossing powder. And I adhered everything using a combination of tape and liquid glue.
I hope you LOVE my card! And have a crafty day!
Long distance hugs,
Peggy
