VIDEO: Koality Shaker Card
Hello there my stamping friends, Carrie Rhoades here, back on the blog today with a shaker card! When I saw all the new sequin mixes from the Heffy Doodle shop I was instantly in love! They are so very pretty and such a fun mix of colors! Being a girl who LOVES shaker cards I knew I had to pour these mixes into a card right away!
Check out the video below to see my Koality Hugs Shaker Card come together. If you can not see the video on your screen, you can also view it right HERE.
This card started with my background, as most of my cards do. I actually had created this background with the Wonderful Windows Masquerade stencil a while ago. Just playing with my new stencil and then set the background aside. I decided today was the day to use it! I used Saltwater Taffy Distress ink and that ended up being a great match to some of the sequins in the Pink Fizz Mix I chose for my shaker.
Every shaker card needs a frame and I find myself using the Imperial Stitched Rectangles a lot to make my own frame. Using a nesting rectangle die set allows me to make my frame as wide or as narrow as I like. For this A2 sized frame I used the larges and the third larges rectangle die in the set. I gave the frame a bit of visual interest by inking up the edge to make it a bit darker and splattering it with some water and darker green ink as well. It’s subtle but that little touch really makes a difference when all said and done.
I knew I wanted to use the Koality Hugs stamp set for this card because I love this little hugging image and it’s the perfect sentiment as well to send to one of my friends. I stamped my images on to Alcohol Friendly card stock and colored them in with my Copic Markers. The sentiment is stamped and embossing on my window sheet! I love doing this with the Heat Resistant Acetate from the HD shop!
To dress things up a bit more on this card I added some glitter paper die cuts. The green glittery leaves on the corner of the frames really help to draw your eye into the center of the card. The Forest Leaves die set is a great set to have on hand for so many occasions and I love the fun look they added to my card.
The little hearts above the koala’s is from the Mini Mail Slimline Die set. I find my self reaching for that little heart die a lot. It makes for the perfect accent, that is completely customizable.
So if you have yet to try out the Sequin mixes from Heffy Doodle I highly recommend them. You can find them linked for you below as well as the other fun things I used to make today’s card.
