Udderly Fabulous Sentiment Inspiration!
Hello, Tallie here with you again today! Sometimes, a sentiment is what inspires the idea for a card. The sentiments in the sets from the Heffy Doodle latest release are wonderful for this – a marvellous mix of pun and fun! Today, I was inspired by the Udderly Fabulous set with the ‘Have an UDDERLY fabulous day’ sentiment.
Udderly Fabulous Card Tutorial
Firstly, I started out by planning the scene out. I like my cards to be somewhat symmetrical for balance, so I chose the two cows facing each other. I stamped these out in Lawn Fawn Jellyfish Ink onto some Alcohol Marker Friendly Paper – the perfect combo for no-line colouring!
To ground the scene, I used the Circle Masquerade stencil to give me a dome of sky. Next, I began by colouring the sky, using some light BG Copic markers and making a gradient that was lighter at the top. I added some desaturated greens (G20s) for the grass, adding a few lines of detail to give some blade-like texture. Having coloured the background, I then coloured in the cows with some warm greys and bright pinks.
Here’s a tip: leave the finer details for coloured pencil. You get a much finer tip and you don’t risk blotting facial features!
The final touch was to add the sentiment. I stamped it out underneath the scene in some Versafine Nocturne ink (perfect for crisp sentiments!), highlighting the ‘UDDERLY’ word in some pink ink to tie it into the scene.
Give it a go! Pull out your stamp sets and let the sentiments inspire you!
