Swinging By to Say Thanks
Hello, Heffy Doodlers! Tallie here.
I’m stepping out of my CAS style slightly today to bring you this cheeky thank you card featuring the Chimply the Best stamp set. This base layout is one of my go-to card designs when I have multiple small images and it only requires one or two dies (or more if you want to include additional smaller windows).
I started out by inking an A6 white panel with some Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint Distress Oxide inks. I wanted a gradient of colour so I brought in a tiny amount of Vintage Photo at the bottom to give it more ‘pop’. Once this had dried, I used two of the Stitched Circle dies. These are perfect as they have stitch marks on both sides so you can save the inner circles to use on another project!
I then inked another panel, this time with some Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon and Faded Jeans Distress Oxide inks, focussing around the windows the circle dies created and keeping the bottom of these windows slightly darker.
Random fact for you here: Lesley was the one who sent me my first Distress Oxide in Faded Jeans after ‘winning’ a mini draw on one of her Friday night live streams a couple of years ago. That started me on my DT journey with Heffy Doodle!
Before adhering the two panels with some foam tape, I white heat embossed the ‘SWINGING BY to say’ sentiment from the Chimply the Best stamp set (leaving the ‘hi’ uninked) to the right side of the card.
I die cut the Thanks Heffy Cuts word die twice, one from white cardstock and one from a panel inked with Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Inks. The pink nicely contrasts the green of the background without being too glaring. I offset these die cuts to give a white shadow and adhered to the background panel underneath the sentiment.
Next, my favourite part – the Copic colouring! These cute and cheeky little monkeys are easy to colour. I stamped them out using some Memento ink onto some alcohol blending cardstock. I used some E20s and E50s to colour in the monkeys, adding in some yellows and greens for the accessories. I die cut these with the coordinating dies.
I arranged the die cuts onto the background panel but felt something was missing – the card was too ‘flat’. I used the solid leaf vine from the Chimply the Best stamp set and some Versamark ink to add some subtle detail to the background panel.
A layer of Glossy Accents onto the ‘thanks’ sentiment finishes off the card!
Thanks for reading, happy crafting!
Tallie
