Step by Step Valentine Card by Mindy Baxter
Step by Step Valentine Card by Mindy Baxter
Hi there crafty friends! It’s Mindy here and today I’m going to share a Valentine card using some goodies from the NEW Heffy Doodle Release! These adorable little Hedge Hogs are from the new stamp set, Quill You Be Mine? I’ve paired this set with the New I Love You Die. Let me just tell you how much I love this die! The font is beautiful and I love how the die has a border — you can really do so many cool techniques when you have scripted dies like this. Today I’m going to share one of my favorite ways to use it, too!
My Stitched Slopey Joe Hills are from an older release but these go with anything — seriously a must have!
Step 1 – My card is cut at 7 x 8 1/2 and scored at 3 1/2. Then I have another piece of cardstock at 3 3/8 x 8 3/8 to sponge my Distress Oxide Inks. I’m using Barn Door, Worn Lipstick and Spun Sugar.
Step 2 – Then I took a piece of craft cardstock and used my Stitched Slopey Joe Hills Die to create my ground. Adhere the ground to the sponged cardstock.
Step 3 – Take the I love you border die and cut out the center of the sponged background with the die.
Step 4 – I cut out another set of the I love you border die using some white foam. Then I cut the word out with some white cardstock. So I have 1 layer of foam using the border die, 1 layer of the sponged pink border die and the white I love you scripted die.
Step 5 – Adhere the foam die to the cut out area of the background and then adhere all the layers, like shown in the photo.
Step 6 – Color and cut out all of your images. I stamped all my images using Memento Black ink and stamped onto my Copic Xpress it Blending Card. The colors I used to color my adorable Hedge Hogs and flower balloons are E44, E43, E42, E41, R32, R30, Y21.
Step 7 – Adhere all images to your card.
I also added some little details to my card and images with my white gel pen. I added some sparkle along the top of my card and a highlight on the balloons.
I hope you enjoyed my post and card today. Thank you so much for stopping by.
