Shrink Plastic Shaker Tags
Hello Heffy Doodlers!
I’m so excited to be back on the Heffy Doodle blog to bring you another fun project! For those of you who don’t know me – hello! I’m Steph, a paper crafter and card maker from Queensland, Australia!
Today I’m back to share another super sweet project with you – these Baby Gift Tags featuring some adorable, custom shaker pieces!
I actually first saw this technique through Amanda Fitterer a few years ago, and it’s what inspired me to start my own YouTube channel, where I could explore more and share this fun way to make cards!
I’m sure you’ve seen shrink plastic before, it’s know by a few names (Shrinky Dinks, here in Aus). They’re an easy way to make your projects look extra magical – because you can use ANY stamped image and turn it into a custom shaker piece!
Just look at how tiny these sweet little things are! While I go into more detail in the video tutorial, all you need to achieve this is your stamps, some black Staz On ink and a sheet of shrink plastic. I recommend only stamping once, and colouring on the opposite side to the ink. While it does dry (and is the only ink I’ve found to dry on plastic) it remains just a little sticky until it’s been heated and shrunk.
Just look at the size difference once they’re made! If you’re already heat embossing during your craft time, then you probably already have a heat embossing tool. That’s what I use, along with a pair of heat resistant tweezers, to shrink these images!
While the shaker pieces are the star of the show – we can’t forget what we’re making them for! I made some tags using the Tag Shaker Dies, cutting blank, solid backgrounds to stamp my sentiments from the New Arrival stamp set, and the piece with open window, which I adhered some clear acetate onto the back to give us our window.
These stalks from the Special Delivery stamp set were the perfect addition to decorate the outside of these tags!
With some foam tape to give my shaker pieces some wriggle room, these tags where sealed and ready to shake!
